How To Be A Good Dad

“Talk to him, Tommy!”

At the core of Field of Dreams is a story about a father and son. So what better way to wrap up this season than to focus on Moonlight Tim’s soon to be new job; Dad. Brother Andy Flattery and Tom Griffin join Tim for a conversation about what it means to be a good dad. Andy and Tom reflect on their own kids and all three discuss their dads and grandfathers. In this episode, the guys cover everything from what we learned from growing up, getting ready to become a dad, and what we are looking forward to as our own kids grow up.

“Labor is kind of like a sport.”

While there are a lot of books you can buy, there really isn’t a manual for becoming a dad. So in lieu of pulling out a roadmap, the guys start out by talking about that first “I’m a dad” moment. While momma gets to feel the little one moving around for months before the delivery, the dad is kind of kept on the bench for most of the pregnancy and first milestones. Once that baby arrives though, dads get the call up and get thrown into the game. No matter what that “welcome to the show” moment is though, we all know that the mom is the real MVP.

“Just wait till dad gets home.”

Once that bundle of joy arrives life is a whole new ballgame. Andy’s son Leo is 2 and another little Ando is on the way. Tom has three kids, Grace (8), Jack (5) and Emme (2 ½). Each has plenty of stories to tell about how things work in their households and what they are looking forward to most. Luckily, all three are blessed with amazing wives as teammates as we stumble through learning to play the game.

Luckily, all three guys grew up with great role models for dads and grandpas as well. Lessons learned from those men help shape the way the guys parent and how they raise their kids. Enjoy a sappy, group of guys and an ode to Moonlight Momma Tori
