"Say it ain't so!" - The MLB Lockout with Emery Songer

Say it ain’t so, Rob!

The Moonlight Graham Show is back with a new season, which is more than we can say for Major League Baseball. Emery Songer joins the pod this week to talk about the season that coulda/woulda/shoulda been. These amateurs have done some research and tried to get a better every man’s level of understanding about why we aren’t getting excited for opening day right now.

The baseball lockout is about a lot more than just some missed starts and plate appearances. America’s pastime has struggled to get out of its own way in the last several years. There are a ton of young stars and great storylines, but the debates over pace of play, the number of games, and robo-umps continue to undermine the game we all love.

Emery Songer joins Tim in the studio to talk about the issues the MLB is dealing with right now. Songer is a Des Moines radio host for WHO and a producer for iHeart Radio. When he’s not in the studio though, Songer can be found wherever there are sports being played in Des Moines. He is a sort of self-trained sports historian with a passion for whatever competition might be going on. From the Prairie Meadows racetrack to Wells Fargo Arena, Songer rarely misses a matchup in the metro.

Emery Songer and Tim share a passion for baseball that actually brought them together on a woodbat team. In this episode, they share their thoughts on the lockout, the future of the game, and what the MLB needs to get right to continue to grow the game.
